Pretty Princess

Last night (Caitlyn insisted Alison was a princess):

This morning, Alison says, "Member me in trash can?"

6:50 a.m.: all the girls are up for the day.

7:00 a.m: find out school is canceled (which makes no sense, since they never canceled school in December when there was more snow than this).

What We Did Over Spring Break

Monday: Caitlyn's birthday! We opened presents and switched rooms around (the Elders helped out!)




Tuesday: We played outside and drew chalk. I drew Dora characters for Alison, Megan drew an abstract, and Caitlyn drew a huge cake that said "Happy Caitlyn" but was too hard to get a good picture of.




Wednesday: Had some friends over. Forgot to take pictures.
Thursday: Went to the doctor, rode bikes and flew kites.


Friday: Went to the Lincoln Museum in Springfield. It was a really good museum, and the girls all enjoyed it.

Rocks and Stones

Since having a birthday party wasn't enough excitement for one day, Russell packed up Megan and Caitlyn (while Alison and I took much-needed naps) and headed up to WIU for the Rocks and Gemstones show. They had fun, and even came home with a geode of their own. They said it was from Mexico.




They got to hunt through sand looking for fossils; Megan found a shark's tooth!

Caitlyn turns 6

We had her birthday party today, but she's not "officially 6" until Monday. We're saving family presents for then...

She had a mermaid party, and invited 6 of her friends. Four came. Still, they had tons and tons of fun.



We made mermaid crowns, played pin the crab on the mermaids, and wrapped them up in trash bags (as flippers) and raced. That took, oh 35 minutes. Note to self: Caitlyn is NOT one to linger and take things slowly. In her opinion, the party was about cake and presents and the pinata, and she couldn't wait to get to those. Thankfully, the weather cooperated, and we had a nice morning. It poured rain this afternoon, though. :)

Joy Asenthum

Caitlyn came home about a month or so ago, asking what a "joy asenthum" was. Took me a while until I figured it out: "A Joyus Anthem". Anyway, her music concert was tonight (that was a line in one of the songs). She sang well.

And from "You're a Grand Old Flag" The music teacher likes doing hand signals to the songs to help the kids remember the words. Some of them are pretty fun.
