Like last year, Caitlyn performed in the school-wide talent show. This time, she sung Our Song by Taylor Swift (her new favorite celebrity, as she puts it). We think she should grow up to be a country star. :)

Last Day! (Movies)
Megan took the camera that did movies, and so she took advantage of it. Here are a couple:

Thursday was the last day of school. And, as is the tradition around here, it was basically a big party at both Peterson and Wilbur. Thankfully, we have two cameras now, so we were able to take many, many pictures...

Cincinnati, Day 3
Sunday was slightly more laid back. We went to church, wher eCamilla and Victor blessed their baby. Megan and Catilyn liked the baby...
After church, we headed outside to attempt to get a family photo. Crossing our fingers that one actually turned out...
This was the best one on my camera...
Then we changed and headed to a nearby park for picnic number two. It was slightly hotter and more humid (how did I ever stand the humidity?), but not so many cottonwood seeds flying around...
After that, back to the hotel for pictures:

And goofing off with super-cool Uncle Victor:
while the grownups talked. It was a relaxing (if crowded -- I think we're getting too big for one hotel room!) day.
And before we drove home on Monday, there was time for one last picture:
It was a short trip, but it was loads of fun seeing everyone!

Cincinnati, Day 2
Saturday, we did stuff. Actually, we didn't actually do stuff in Cincinnati; we drove south, across the Ohio river (which, ironically, Kentucky owns) and did stuff in Newport, Kentucky. They had a very nice plaza/walking area/can't remember what they called it, which would have been nice to hang out in, but we had a duck to catch.
I should have taken a picture of the actual duck boat, but I didn't think of it at the time. Anyway, it's one of those land-water thingies and Russell and I thought it'd be hopelessly corny.
Which it was (anything with duck-shaped kazoos is).
However, it was also a lot of fun, and the guide was quite informative about the whole Cincinnati area from the history to why they have "where pigs fly" on the mugs (which we bought).
From there, we headed to a park on the river to grill brats and dogs for lunch.
And aside from the massive amounts of cottonwood seeds in the air, it was a very lovely day.
Since we weren't tired yet (!), we headed back to the plaza to go through the aquarium. It was smallish -- kind of like Denver's -- and the crowd management (it was VERY crowded) wasn't too great. But, for all that, it was a good aquarium.
Alison's such a goof. :)

Kansas City
We decided that we'd stop in Kansas City on our way out to the Madsen Family reunion, mostly because we've lived here for three years and haven't been there once (even though we've passed through numerous times...).
We stopped first for lunch at a really good barbecue place. The girls liked the decor best...
Then we went to play on a hands-on science museum, which we got into for free (on a fluke, since we arrived when the ticket booth was closed).
Our favorite things were the sewer slide (it was pitch-black!):
The Mr. E. House with its optical illusions:
And the tree house (with echo cave):
From there, we went to the Negro Baseball League museum, but they wouldn't let us take pictures, so we opted for a picture with a painted cow outside.
We headed to Independence for a picnic dinner:
And spent a while in the church visitors center, which the girls will all remember as the one with the really cool play area:
From there, we headed to Columbia to crash. It was a fun afternoon, and we'll have to go back!

The preschool, on the last day, always goes to a nearby park for a huge playdate. It was a gorgeous day, and we had a grand time, even if Alison was a bit sad about saying goodbye to her friends.
