Argh: A Spring Blizzard
Or, my poor flowers are dead now.

We Actually Got Out and Did Something Over Spring Break!
We went to the Zoo! It was a lovely day, not to warm, not too windy, and even though the zoo was busy, it wasn't packed.
We stopped first at the flamingos (and got into an argument about their color; I say they're orange. Megan insisted that they had *some* pink. Bah. I've never seen orange flamingos before!)
Next stop: the penguins! (Kristen's choice; she LOVED them!)
We tromped through the rainforest exhibit (Caitlyn's choice), and stopped to gawk at the macaws...
Caitlyn had the younger two imitating animal walks while we headed toward the gorillas (Alison's choice!):

By this point, Megan and Caitlyn were being overly obnoxious, talking in unison, begging (whining, pleading, coercing) us to take them to IHOP for lunch.
Last stop (my favorite): the orangutans.
It was a fun day!

Playing With the Camera
I swear, the girls use the camera more than I do. They LOVE to play with it... and sometimes I'm very surprised (and pleased) at what I find.

Megan found this activity where you put tights/nylons on your head, and a ball in one of the legs, and you play tag. It's every person for themselves, and the object it to pull the nylons/tights off people's heads. Good fun.
But, mostly, it's about being silly:
If you'll notice, the person with the camera avoided looking like an idiot, even though she had one of those things on her head, too. Bwahahaha!

There's a 9 Year Old in the House
Caitlyn had a wildly eventful day. She slept over Thursday night at Merry's house, and then hung out with Merry (they went to the Exploration Place, then Merry came over to our house to play) for pretty much the whole day.
While she was doing that (and Alison was at school, and Kristen watched TV on the computer), Megan and I worked on this:
Caitlyn wanted a Percy Jackson cake, and this was what whe came up with. That's a book cake, with Half Blood Lake on the side. And the figurines (edible, made out of fondant) are of Percy, Amnabeth, and Grover the faun. Here's a closeup:
Megan did the writing. She also said, when we were done, that aside from them looking like mutant aliens, we did okay.
She had to wait until Dad came home from work to open presents (that was as hard for Alison as it was for Caitlyn; they were waiting by the door and pounced on him as soon as he got home!):
Caitlyn had an American Girl extravaganza; every single present (except a re-gifted book from Megan) was something for Kit. She was very excited. And I forgot to take an "after" picture.
We did cake and ice cream after dinner, and then they watched Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves (Caitlyn's choice), after dinner.
It was a good day.
