These movies took a LONG time to upload.
The last one I took from dress rehearsal; it's of the dream sequence. It's also my favorite. :)

The Fiddler that's Taken Over our Lives
Performances started last night. Russell and Megan went, and said that she did a good job, remembering all her lines and being very cute. The movies are from dress rehearsal Wednesday night.

Caitlyn in her costume as Bielke. The kerchief is going to be the bane of her existence. It won't stay on her head!!
This one is from a scene with Papa. She doesn't have any lines, but she's cute...
This is from a scene with Perchek... she even has a speaking line!
This is from the final scene. It's hard to hear hear line -- "We're going on a train and a boat" -- but it's there if you listen carefully!
I'm trying to get a couple of the musical numbers loaded up. Hopefully tomorrow.

I Had a Birthday (Shout Hooray?)
I realized at 3 p.m. on Monday that the rest of the week was totally tied up -- mutual, dress rehearsal/Constitution day program, performance/free tickets to the performance, Shakespeare in the park, performance/youth social -- so I decided that we needed to celebrate my birthday for Family night. I threw together a cake (literally), and we opened presents.

Because I am mom, I am not allowed to open my presents by myself.

Can you tell Alison's eager for it??

A little side note -- my parents present made NO sense, but that was because only half came. When we finally got the other half (this morning at 6:30...) it made more sense... I'll take a picture when I get it up.

The lovely teapot the girls and Russell got me (the one on the right).

Proof you can throw together a cake in two hours. :)

White cake with raspberry filling... yum. (I decided that I really like wedding cake, so that was what I was going for.)

It was a happy birthday! (Even if it was two days early.)

It's Always Fun
When old friends decide to stop by for a visit!!
Our friends from Arkansas, Mark and Katie Calvin, decided to make a trip to Jonesboro, and since we're on the way, they dropped in for a visit! They got here late Saturday night, and stayed through until this afternoon. It was a lot of fun to see them and catch up.

Alison and their daughter Emma got along famously...

As did Kristen and Hannah.

Thanks for visiting us!!!

The View from Our Front Door

It's been raining for about 24 hours, heavily for the last 6. (To give you some perspective... we usually can't see the runoff creek from our front door.) We had a devil of a time getting the girls to school; and I just got a call that they might be evacuating the schools. We're looking at some serious flooding here. Who would have thought... we're in Kansas... Right? Right?!
Update:
The schools stayed in session all day. The rain stopped, for the time being, around 1 p.m. We're okay (except for a window sill which leaked water...). I'm still concerned, since it's supposed to rain on and off all weekend... I'm not sure we're out of the woods yet.

The runoff creek and our driveway...

The bridge over the creek on Central St. I think it's gone down; several hours ago, it was nearer the top.

The pedestrian bridge over the runoff. I was afraid it would be flooded. But it looks like we have a few feet still.

More Movies
Or... what happens when you let a bunch of 11- and 12-year-olds loose with a camera at a birthday party. Watch at your own risk.
Megan Had a Birthday (Party)
Last night, we had a makeover party to celebrate Megan's birthday. And, yes, this was her idea.
First thing, we all had to take before pictures. (The hat's name is George. Don't ask.)

There was a snack bar, that they all frequented. (The punch was terrible. Alas.)

They all got facials...

Megan said: "I really am an alien!"

(They even said I had to get one. It was kind of slimy.)

And then we did nails while the face masks dried.

And then on to the hair...

And the face...

Voila! The after picture:

Oh, yeah... we opened presents, too.

More fun over at Flickr.
